my B(R)E(A)ST friends with WALMART

just like that another week has begun! i spent the weekend working a little bit & chillin at home with my peeps! i feel like it was a little bit of a blur the last couple weeks with work and potty training and baby jax's minor surgery (all is well btw!) - trying to get back to our routine now that charlotte is pretty much potty trained & we're feeling more comfortable going out with her! so crazy how we worry sometimes about the next phase, wondering what it will be like, getting all anxious and stressed! haha or is that just me?! i remember just thinking - ahhhh i don't want to potty train! its going to be so hard & what if she doesn't get it and it takes forever! haha! OMG - i really need to relax and have a little more faith but you know how it is - you've never done something before and sometimes the unknown can be nerve-wrecking! anywho all is good! she actually caught on pretty quickly and i'm sure we're not completely there yet but so far so good +++ baby jax had his little surgery that went well and he seems to not notice it or be in pain and its healing nicely - soooo i can let out a huge sigh of relief and breathe a little better this week... until the next thing! ha you know how it is if you're a mama! #MOMLIFE

i am very much still breastfeeding baby jax - feel super lucky and blessed that i am able to provide milk for him and that we have kept it up this long! if you've been following me, you know he is not a fan of bottles, but i still pump at work to keep up my milk supply! and if you're a breastfeeding or pumping mom or BOTH, then you know how much time, commitment & dedication it takes to do this EVERY DAY & EVERY NIGHT for this long - for me it's been TEN MONTHS!!! i actually pumped for about 13 months for charlotte, but breastfed her until she was almost 17 months! so i plan to go as long, maybe even longer with baby jax! and as much time as it takes and how some days i am so tired and want my body back to myself, i DO ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. breastfeeding givea me a connection to my babies no one else will have and i enjoy our bonding time - both babies hold on to my shirt while they feed or rest their little hands gently on my chest and i LOVE IT! i always knew i wanted to breastfeed my babies - never knew what it would take or how long i would do it until i did it with my first. i am lucky that breastfeeding came pretty easily to me and both babies. especially since both my babies were NICU babies - i knew how important it was to make sure they got my breastmilk and even better if i could breastfeed them.

did you know that August is NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING AWARENESS MONTH?! and i am all about spreading awareness on breastfeeding - not only is it great for bonding with your babies but you can provide the best nutrients and exactly what your baby needs with breastfeeding - but i also know that breastfeeding doesn't come as natrually or easily to some women or some women decide that is not the path for them and their baby - and THATS OK! FED IS REALLY BEST! but since i am a breastfeeding and pumping mom, i teamed up with WALMART to share my favorites for breastfeeding mamas and pumping mamas! after becoming a mom, i realize how LITTLE people actually pay attention to mom and breastfeeding - they say you should do it because it's good, but sometimes i feel like most women don't realize it can be a challenge! it really isn't as easy at looks every time, so i am sharing what i now love to gift to new mamas - BREAST FRIENDS! we all get excited about the cute baby clothes and toys & baby gear, and don't get me wrong, i love those things too but i know i wouldn't want to be going out with a newborn in search of breast pads because i didn't realize i was going to need them or that my breasts would be leaking! so i put together the things I LOVE AND USE ALMOST EVERYDAY!

sharing why i love all these items and why they should be you BREAST friends too!

1. BREASTMILK STORAGE BAGS - if you are planning on pumping, then storing them in bags is best! also there are attachments you can find that should fit on your pump so you can directly pump into the bags - COMPLETE GAME CHANGER - makes pumping so much more efficient!

2. BREAST PUMP - having a breast pump at home and one you can also take with you is so crucial - at least it was for me especially in the first few months and once baby starts sleeping more, i had to pump to not get engorged and to make sure i had some back up milk in the freezer - this is the pump i mainly used at home - love that it comes with all the accessories and travel bag - also can use batteries so you can pump in the car!

3. BREAST PADS - so not everyone will need these but i certainly did - and having a wet bra or leaking through your shirt, especially in public is no fun - i always had a ton of these at home & kept some in my bag!

4. QUICK CLEAN STEAM BAGS - ok another thing about pumping that kinda sucks, cleaning all the parts! especially when you're rushing to pump at work - these are PERFECT! rinse parts, put in bag with a little water, pop in microwave and boom clean! so easy!

5. BREASTMILK COLLECTOR - i have one similar to this and i don't know why i didn't know about this with baby charlotte - but got one with jax and basically get a good amount of milk from one side while you breastfeed baby on the other side! its amazing!

6. BABY WARMER/PUMP & GO SET - i got this with baby charlotte and i love the warmer because our babies are spoiled and we warm their milk, plus it comes with attachments and some bag you can pump directly into AND attach a nipple to to feed straight from the bag instead of transferring to a bottle!

7. DR. BROWNS BOTTLES - whether its just once in a while or you're pumping exclusively and using bottles or using formula, its good to have some bottles around! these are probably on the top of our list even though jax rarely takes a bottle, charlotte loves these ones!

8. BOPPY PILLOW - nursing pillow that is easy to use but also works for sitting baby up or tummy time!

9. NURISNG BRAS - these ones are easy to wear, no fuss, soft! if you're nursing, gotta have comfortable easy bras!

10. BIBS - both our babies definitely needed bibs before, during and after feeding, and we also got these bandana style ones they're so cute, the right size and useful!

11. PUMPING BRA - planning on pumping, get a HANDS FREE pumping bra - GAME CHANGER - eat lunch, do your nails, whatever while you pump! don't waste time holding! haha!

12. BURP CLOTHS - kinda goes along withe bibs, gotta burp the babes so gotta have these on hand!

13. COMO TOMO BOTTLES - these are super popular and the one bottke baby jax will actually take! i love that they're soft and the nipple is closer to a breast if that makes sense, so more likely for your baby to take it!

14. NURSING COVER - this type of cover is seriously the BEST! works amazing as a nursing cover, car seat cover, shopping car cover and high chair cover!! every mama needs one!!

baby must-haves 0-6 months

Happy Thursday friends!!

hope everyone is having a beautiful week, we are almost to the weekend!! yay! but it also means i am only a handful of days away from going back to work! so sad to leabe my babies all day but they will be with their daddy so it won't be too bad... we are still working on baby boy's sleep and bottle feeding. Positive vibes he gets it in a few days haha

anyway, i partnered up with a few of my mommy bloggers i love to share some of our very favorite baby must haves! especially for babies 7 months and under!

all linked at the end! and i am also sharing them in my stories and sharing my beautiful mamas, so check out my INSTAGRAM - click HERE

1. Hatch Nursery - ok this is my YOU HAVE TO GET THIS product! i tell EVERY MAMA i know about this one! we have FOUR, yes FOUR! one for each baby, one in our room and we recently put one in our living room for when the baby naps in the rock n play! I LOVE THIS SOUND MACHINE - it has a bunch of different sounds, we use waves crashing and white noise, but they also have birds chirping (works great if you want to use it to wake baby), also lullabies and different color lights! so we use dark and very dim orange for night time and recently baby C decided she wants blue for nighttime. you can also have the colors change when you want to gently wake baby up in the mornings! another amazing thing is you can control everything via bluetooth with an app on your phone! it is THE BEST sound machine i have ever used! makes a graet gift too if you know a mama-to-be!

2. Rock n Play Sleeper - so this may not be a shock to you because i feel like everyone talks about this and how much they love it. we love it because it sits at incline which is great because both my babies had bad reflux so it worked well and of course they love the gentle rocking. i tried not using it too much in the beginning with baby boy because i didn't want him to get used to so much rocking, but it doesn't matter now because he always wants to be held haha and he's not a great sleeper. we usually only use it for his second and third nap of the day, so he's not always in it. anyway, i think its great to have!

3. Halo 360 Bassinest - this was sent to me right before i had baby boy and I AM SO GRATEFUL! why i didn't have this with baby C i don't know! its AHHHMAZING! our bed sits pretty high, so this is great because it can swivel right above our bed so i don't have to get up. the dock a tot also fits perfectly inside if you are a dock a tot lover (we are, but it is not recommended, just do you!). it glides and swivels so smoothly, has music and also vibrates! it is defintiely a GAME CHANGER especially if baby wakes up in the middle of the night!

4. Milk Snob cover - the ORIGINAL! there are so many dupes and copies of this cover and they all pretty work the same but the quality of Milk Snob is the best! they have so many colors and prints, including disney ones! they also have a luxe version, which i got for baby boy and i love it! it is so soft!! what's great about this covers, is it works as a nursing cover, a carseat cover, cover for a high chair when you go out to eat! so many uses! i love using ours! check out my instastories to see it in action!

5. Toy Arch - we love our O ball toy arch! sadly i can't find ours online anymore, got it on Amazon, but i did link this one which is pretty much the same thing! this is a new toy for us, we didn't have it with baby C, but baby boy LOVES it and i LOVE it because it can go anywhere! on the rock n play sleeper, the bassinet, the carseat or stroller! he also loves the toys that come with it but we love that with the O Ball one, we can ad our own toys too!

6. Baby Shusher - this is another definite MUST HAVE - we got it for baby C and used it all the time until i had baby boy and now he uses it! it is great for car rides or when you're out. it has a 15 and 30 minute timer and it is the most soothing SHHHHHH sound, which is also a real person by the way. it is the perfect sound, seriously so soothing!

7. Baby Booties - we love these baby booties because they are super soft and super easy to put on and they do NOT fall off, like so many baby socks! we just ordered these cotton striped ones for baby boy, in my stories i share a fuzzy one we got for the winter!

Oct 29, 2018

hope everyone had a lovely weekend and ready to get this week started! i know i am because we may be taking baby boy jax home this week -- in just a few days most likely! in case you missed it, my baby boy has been in NICU for almost two weeks! he arrived early at 34 weeks and 4 days, had a little bit of respiratory issues, but by day 4 improved and has just been working on feedings. in the last couple days he completely turned the corner, stopped being lazy and started eating on his own! so if he continues to eat well & gain weight he should be coming home this week! i am so excited to have him home! so on that note, i thought this would be the perfect time to share my birth story with you! i really wish i had done this with baby C... anywho lets get started!

also warning -- these pics are not glamorous at all but they show real life -- real labor without any anesthesia..

so here's what happened . . .

on tuesday night, october 16th i just started getting this feeling like i may go into labor soon -- i wasn't exactly feeling contractions but i kept having to go to the bathroom - - number two (sorry TMI) but that's what kinda gave me an idea that i was maybe going to go into labor soon. it's like the body's way of clearing out and preparing you for labor.. and i felt like i was going to bathroom or feeling like i had to go every five mintues or so and wasn't getting much sleep.. but still nothing like full blown labor or anything that concerning that made me do anything different..

the next day, wednesday, october 17th, we went about our normal day, we took baby C to play in the little play area at the mall, and i remember mentioning to the hubby that i thought i was having contractions -- they were definitely not painful, just tightening and some pressure in my bottom every once in a while, and i was trying to just go about my day so i was paying much attention to them until later that afternoon when i decided i should text my really good friends, who are also nurses i work with (in case you didn't know this - i am a labor and delivery nurse), about how and what i was feeling. i first texted them right before 2pm that day and told them about the night before, going to the bathroom frequently and that i started feeling like i had to go again and it felt like pressure in my bottom was becoming more consistent and much more noticeable. my friends and i went back and forth about what i should do because i had a preterm delivery before and they wanted me to be prepared and have time to get to the hospital, but i was very hesitant because i wasn't uncomfortable at all. i just felt like going to the bathroom -- at this point its about 3pm and me and my friends are trying to figure out what our game plan should be, am i in labor? how much longer should i wait.. should i head to the hospital and have them meet me there or should they come to my house and assess me at home (haha nurse life). so my friends and i continue to go back and forth about what i should do, its now almost 4pm and baby C is still napping, so i tell them i have to get her up and feed her.. and that i want to wait another hour or so and see how i feel before heading to the hospital.. haha and maybe then drive myself to hospital and my hubby could meet me later.. my one friend decides she should just come over to my house, check me herself to see if i am any more dilated than i was the last time i was in the hospital.. my friend lives about an hour away from me, so this was perfect because that bought me more time..

my friend arrives to my house around 5:15pm, she checks me and i am about 4cm and the baby is really low so we decide lets just go to the hospital because my contractions are also becoming more frequent, but not much more uncomfortable. i talk with my hubby and we decide my friend will take me to the hospital, and he will meet me at the hospital once baby C goes to sleep for the night, and his brother can come over to stay with her. so my friend drives me to the hospital and in the car my contractions start to get a litte more noticeable and some are getting kind of uncomfortable. i can't remember the exact time, but we probably get to the hospital around 6pm -- my friend had called them to tell them i was coming since we work there (get a little VIP treatment hehe), so we stop into triage, the nurse checks me and i'm still about 4cm, but since i am early and contracting pretty regularly i knew i would get admitted, so i did and up to labor and delivery i go! they get me all admitted, the doctor comes in and we tell her we want to wait for my husband to get there and then maybe break my bag of water to get things going a litte quicker because if i was in labor i did not want this to drag out over house and hours.

a little before 8pm, maybe like 7:45ish, my hubby arrives and were ready to get the show on the road.. the doctor comes in, and checks me and i'm only 5cm, we have a quick discussion as to whether she agrees it is ok to break my bag of water and she says yes, so at 8pm on the dot the doctor breaks my water. now with baby C my water broke and the painful contractions happened pretty quickly after. this time i felt like it took awhile for it to kick in, maybe about 15-20 min.. then they start to get uncomfortable and i am in hands and knees, while my friend puts counter pressure on my hips and rubs my back. my other friend is also here and i remember them taking turns rubbing my back and helping me get through the contractions.. they start to get pretty painful, and i was contracting like every minute, not much rest in between, so we decide i should get in the shower.. at this point i have no idea what time it is and it just felt like i was in the shower for awhile.. maybe 20-30 minutes -- completely naked laying over a birthing ball with hot water hitting my back -- it felt really good to be in the shower. i started getting more uncomfortable and started feeling more pressure but not the kind of pressure like he was coming soon -- but the nurse and my friends decide i should go back to the bed and check me to see where i'm at.. at that point i believe i was 7-8cm.. we decide i should stand by the bedside for a little bit and i think at this point i lose control for a minute and i remember just crying and saying "i don't know what to focus on anymore"! i never asked for any pain medication but i felt like omg can i do this, it hurts so freaking bad.. a little more time passes and my friend says lets check you, and i'm like i better be really close, if not complete and ready to push! well i wasn't! i was about 8-9cm and i thought i was gonna lose it because i also felt like he wasn't coming down lower, i also remember thinking omg i have to push still, is that pain going to be worse than what i am feeling right now.. i think i even asked my friend is the pain going to be worse, and she told me no, you'll feel better when you push.. but i was in so much pain, and my friend asked me what position i wanted to be in, and i just remember saying "i don't know!!" later my friend told me they weren't sure what i should do, but then decided to put me in what i thought (at that time) the WORST position everrrrr! they laid me down all the way over on my left side with my top (right) leg way over my body and kinda hanging off the bed.. all i remember was that i was so mad she put me in this position because it was so so uncomfortable but my friend forced me to stay in this position and i think i stayed like this for maybe two contractions and BAM!!!!!! all of a sudden the feeling completely changed and i just kept screaming --

but i wouldn't move, so i think my friends helped me get onto my back and i don't even remember when the doctor came in or everyone else for that matter, i couldn't even open my eyes. here is what it literally felt like -- a very large, very hard poop was trying to blast out of me and i was screaming and i felt like i was pushing so hard because i could not help it! i'm pretty sure the entire floor heard me i could not stop screaming. i think i pushed like five times and then relief when his head came out, and even more relief when the rest of his body came out. omg were my friends right, it felt sooooo good to push and it felt amazing when he finally came out!

i delivered my baby boy at 9:42pm.

only one hour and 42 minutes after the doctor broke my water, to me it felt like eternity, but itwas actually super fast! thank goodness because i don't know how much more i could've handled. i also do not understand how women delivery without any anesthesia and don't make much noise. i could not help but scream and after i delivered i was completely hysterical for the first couple of minutes. not because i was in pain because i actually wasn't in pain but i was just so OVERWHELMED and AMAZED that i just did that. i delivered my baby without any pain medication, i felt bad ass and super strong and so proud of myself.

truly amazing what our bodies are capable of, what were capable of. seriously so amazing! and i have to say i literally could NOT have done it without the support and coaching of my two friends. i could not thank them enough.. they said the right things, did the right things, they were there for me. i have to say if it is your plan to go naturally, not only should you take classes but you defintiely need someon as your support person that will be assertive and know ways to help you cope through all of that. my hubby was also amazing, he came in and said the right things at thr right time, and i was happy and grateful that he was ok with stepping back and letting my friends take care of me. i was so afraid that i was scaring him toward the end but he was totally fine!

i have to say that this birth experience was not like what i was expecting, i mean i had no idea how it was going to turn out. with baby C i tried to go without an epidural but ended up getting one around 7cm and the epidural worked great, no issues but i gave myself a hard time for a few weeks about not sticking to my plan to go unmedicated but i got over it and am grateful that i also had a good birth experience.. i am so proud and happy i had a different but still good birth experience this time and as weird as this may sound after it was all over, i was a little bit sad that it was over and that the experience is over. i don't know if i'll ever do it again but this is an experience i will never forget.

thank you so much for reading my birth story! i got such a great response from IG about sharing my story and also wanting to follow along my postpartum journey, so i am excited to share that with you! let me know if there is anything specific you'd like to know and i'll do my best to cover it!

what's in my hospital bag

woohoo it's almost F R I Y A Y !!

i know you're all super excited the weekend it almost here... it has been a while since my last blog post.. if you missed it, i was in the hospital for two weeks due to preterm labor! i am home now and happy and STILL PREGNANT! so i'm happy its the weekend too because that means baby is one week older and still cooking on the inside! haha! i am not going to lie, i am starting to get impatient because i am now 33 weeks and 5 days, and i delivered baby C at 33+5 and it was ALSO A THURSDAY!!! CRAY! so it's a little weird playing the waiting game because i didn't have to wait last time, went into labor unexpectedly and my labor was pretty quick! i definitely want baby boy to stay in a little longer but not toooo long hahah! we will have to see what happens!

sooooo because my first labor and delivery happened so fast and so out of the blue, we were TOTALLY NOT READYYYY!! it was also around the holidays and i figured i have time after christmas to get everything together... but NOPE she came six weeks early and right before christmas. we didn't have her carseat ready or a hospital bag, no clothes washed yet, or even ones that really fit her because i barely got any newborn stuff and definitely no preemie items! she did have to sepnd time in the NICU so that gave me and the hubby time to wrap our brains around having the baby early and it also gave us time to prepare the essentials at home. sooo anyway this time i want to be a little more prepared. even though the same thing almost happened.. i am now home and am on a mission to get the essentials done.. but of course i'm also supposed to be on modified bed rest -- STRUGGLE CITY! haha! i decided to start with putting together a hospital bag.. last time it kinda worked out because i wasn't in labor long and i went home after two days so i didn't need a whole lot. plus my hubby was able to go home to get me a few things, like a toothbrush and a change of clothes. now i'm prepared with all my necessities for this time around!

also, if you haven't been following me for long and don't know this about me, i am a labor and delivery RN and have been for over six years.. so i kinda know what's essential to bring with you and of course a lot of items are personal preference. something else you may not know about me, i am a really really good light packer! i hate lugging around a ton of bags and crap that i know i will never use. so over the years i've gotten really good at packing the essentials and if room permits, a couple extras. but everytime i travel, no matter how long (my longest trip was an international trip for almost two weeks), i only have a carry-on. i hate CHECKING IN BAGS! sooo you'll see that my list for what's needed for my hospital stay is pretty simple and my bag still has plenty of room!

let's get started

i'll just briefly talk about the items i am for sure bringing and link as much of the stuff as i can. i also have it all listed in a graphic at the end of the post!

also, we have to talk about the BEST overnight bag! this overnight/weekender bag was sent to me by friends at UNITED MONOGRAMS , its under $100 and I LOVE IT! for real, it's a great size for a weekend, or in my case even a week long trip. amazing quality, the canvas is super sturdy and i love all the leather details, not to mention that it is MONOGRAMMED with my initials! so cute! you can choose different color options  and they have striped ones too, which is fun! i kept mine pretty neutral and i looooooove it! definitely check out the bag HERE. i also linked to a bunch of my other faves from their site -- UNITED MONOGRAMS has so many cute things!

ok so for yourself, mama the essentials i think you need for your hospital stay

ok to start off -  a ROBE, this is mainly for postpartum so you can feel more comfortable, the hospital gowns are kind of annoying and once you're settled after baby is born, you don't need to wear the hospital gown. i am also no-fuss when it comes to the hospital stay because i know (i hope) i won't be there long so i don't really care what i'm in but having your own robe especially if visitors drop by is nice. along with the robe, a comfy pair of PAJAMAS - something loose-fitting and nursing friendly if you are planning on breastfeeding. i love the matching button down pajama sets like this ONE. also really important in your hospital bag - TOILETRIES - just the essentials - toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, face wash, moisturizer, body wash, lotion. i am not one to put makeup on while i'm at the hospital so i don't even bring it, thats up to you. next up, socks, slippers, FLIP FLOPS for shower -- i can never go barefoot in a hospital room and definitely not in their showers.. so i packed SLIPPER SOCKS, their lightweight and easier, but you could also do slippers. want to make things even easier, just bring flip flops - wear them around the room and in the shower, just dry them off! next thing that is useful are NURSING BRAS and NURSING PADS or disposable nursing padsi feel like you don't have to have nursing tanks or bras because you're in your room and should be fine breastfeeding or pumping without it, but it you are planning on pumping a lot, i would definitely bring a hands-free pumping bra so you can do ther things while pumping. Also UNDERWEAR, so I packed like one pair just in case, but the hospital does proved those really sexy mesh panties hahaha and yes they are not pretty but they are super comfortable and easy -- use and throw away and get another. why mess up your own underwear, just wait until you get home.. but if you like your own then add that to the list! Other essenatials include a water bottle, phone charger, eye mask, heat/cold pack.

honestly i don't think your partner needs much unless you live far from the hospital or your parnter is high maintenance haha. i feel like whether you have a long labor or quick one if you love pretty close, your partner has time to go home and take care of a quick shower and change. thats just my opinion. and the things i list for your partner, half of them are things that are really for you -- like music playlist and speaker and camera. i list ther for your partner because they will be taking control over that stuff and making sure its working to your liking and what not. other than that, your partner may just need a change of clothes, a few toiletries, some snacks and water, and possibly some reading material or ipad in case your labor is long.

baby doesn't need  much either -- the hospital provides all  the essentails -- diapers, wipes, swaddles blankets, formula (if that's your plan) and even shirts with the hand mitts -- i feel like in the hospital you're not there long and baby is usually swaddled or naked and skin to skin with mama. so why bring a bunch of stuff you'll just have to unpack later. things to bring - going home outfit, outfit for hospital pictures (if you're doing those), swaddle blanket is you prefer your own, a pacifier if you think you want to use one, hospitals don't tend to just give those away so may want to bring your own. and really that's it. the hospital will also have hospital-grade pumps for you to use, so you don't need to worry about that either!

{ SHOP the POST }

i think i covered it all.. might have missed a few things so leave me a comment if you think there other items that are needed in the hospital room for labor and delivery! like i mentioned above, i like to keep things easy and simple, you're not usually in the hospital that long and i hate unpacking so don't want to do much of that when i get home, sleep deprived with a newborn haha!

hope you enjoyed this {lengthy} post and found it to be helpful! sorry it's kinda long.. i like to ramble a little on here!

Have an awesome day and cheers to almost the weekend!

newborn diaper bag with FAWN DESIGN

happy F R I D A Y friends!!

hope everyone had a nice, easy week! just want to start off with a quick update on my condition. if you didn't see is from my instastories..i have been in the hospital with preterm labor since last friday! i was admitted really early last friday due to preterm labor contractions.. i will be 32 weeks tomorrow and i delivered my baby girl at 33.5 weeks so i have to be really careful. i basically started having painful contractions late last thursday night.. so went into the hospital and was in preterm labor. got admitted and got all the meds to stop the contractions -- basically feeling like craaaaap. i have been in the hospital and not able to leave or get up except to go to the bathroom and have a quick shower for a week now, and let me tell ya.. it aint easy laying around all day not being able to do anything. its definitely hard on baby c since she doesn't understand why i can't pick her up or play with her at the park.. so hard seeing her upset and all i wanna do is pick her up.. the last few days she has adjusted really well and has been in really good spirits! anywho.. for now i am stable and hoping to keep this baby boy in for at least a few more weeks! i want to thank all of you that reached out to me with your positive thoughts and prayers! i got so many amazing messages.. it means so much to me!! so thank you!!

ok so moving on to today's post -- when i took these photos and was planning all the things i need in my newborn diaper bag, i thought to myself, wow this is kinda early thinking about what i need in a newborn diaper bag -- now i'm kinda glad i got a few things together seeing that this baby boy may be coming sooner than expected. so i thought this would be fun and helpful to show you what i think are the necessities for a newborn diaper bag.. i got these ideas obviously from my experience with baby C and suggestions from other moms. my diaper bag i carry now for baby c is completely different in terms of the kind of stuff and amount of stuff i need for her. since shes older she really only needs some diapers, wipes and the most important - SNACKS ! haha !! but for a newborn i feel like you need so much more because there is so much that could go on while you're out. also, another thing you need to know about me, is i hate, HATE overpacking for anything. i love having my stuff but when we go out of town or whatever, i hate having a ton of bags filled with stuff i MIGHT need and probably never end up using. so i think my newborn diaper checklist is pretty concise and has everything you need without being over the top. of couse this bag is for a normal day of in and out of the house, running a few errands for a couple hours or so, i would probably add more if it were a full day or overnight situation. but anyway i'm rambling so lets get started. i will put a checklist at the end of the post so you can see everything easily in one spot!

OK first off, huge shoutout to my FAVORITE DIAPER BAG - FAWN DESIGN! i have been using the original diaper bag by Fawn Design with Baby C for a while now, and they recently updated their original bag -- I AM EVEN MORE OBSESSED!!!! it has all the things i wish the older version had -- it is PERFECT. i love all the pockets, the size, they style and the way it looks. i used to hate diaper bags because they look like diaper bags. if i have to carry this thing everyday instead of my cute purses, i need it to look good too! Fawn Design dipaer bags are so functional yet still so stylish. they are also made with amazing faux leather material that is super easy to clean! seriously i am not kidding, you need this diaper bag or your mama friend needs it! haha! it also comes in a bunch of beautiful colors.. that will be the difficult decision, which color to get! i like things pretty neutral so for baby C i have one of their limited colors from spring - oatmeal, so this time i went neutral again and classic in black. i could NOT be any happier -- looks so beautiful, well-made and i love the gold hardware. keep scrolling to see this beautiful dipaer bag!

Q&A Mommyhood & Pregnancy

happy FRIYAY friends!!

hope you all had an awesome week! i'm sure we're all looking forward to the weekend.. however, for me, i unfortunately work all weekend! granted i did have most of the week off so i can't complain! i think i've been saying this for like the last two weeks but i have been soooo exhausted lately... yet i have such a hard time sleeping early and staying asleep longer.. its a vicious cycle.. and probably a pregnancy realted issue.. darn those hormones and changes haha!

anywho, today i'm sharing something special -- my first maternity photo session! i wasn't sure what i was going to do for my maternity shoot this time around but i know i wanted it to be something different for me. this kind of maternity photo sesh isn't totally out of the ordinary, i actually think it's been popular lately but i thought it was sweet and beautiful.

so this milk maternity bath photo session was actually pretty easy to do - - all you need is a bathtub, free standing tub i think works better, and luckily we were able to go over to my friend's new beautiful home to shoot this pics! then all you need are flowers and greenery that you like, pick a color scheme you like -- i went with whites and pinks -- and then milk! of course you'll find a dress you like and feel comfortable with -- i think maternity lace dresses are perfect for this setting or any kind of maternity gown that opens up at your bump so you can show it off! i also loved adding a flower crown just gives a nice, girly, angelic touch -- don'tcha think? hehe! would love to hear your thoughts on this maternity shoot !

now for a little Q&A on motherhood and pregnancy! i asked on my instagram stories for my followers to ask me anything that is motherhod and/or pregnancy related to share here!

so lets get started!

Q: What is your go-to when you are experiencing nausea?

    A. I definitely had lots of nausea with both pregnancies, with this one it lasted a few weeks longer,   and if you're pregnant or been pregnant with morning sickness, you know it can be really awful, and let me tell you, its even worse with a toddler running around because you can't just lay in bed all day.. with that being said, my go-to remedies for nausea are ginger lemon tea (ginger is great for nausea, i am not a fan of ginger at all, but ginger lemon tea isn't terrible and for me it really helped), mints, any kind of peppermints, i love the life saver mints or altoids; pregger pops - these helped me a lot during my first pregnancy, they're like a sweet/tart hard candy; also liked sour patch kids, or any sour candy made me feel better ha! also trying to eat small snacks, like pretzels or saltines helped too, and adding a little splash of something flavored in my water because water made me sick the first few weeks, so i would add like a splash of lemon-lime gatorade or lemonade. Another thing that i hear helps really well with nausea and morning sickness is vitamin B6, i never tried it but friends of mine that have say it works wonders. and of course if you can just getting plenty of rest and trying to sleep. i remember with my first baby, i would just be like, i'm going to bed, so i don't feel the nausea. haha

Q: Is this pregnancy feeling the same as the last (another popular question)?

    A. yes and no. it feels the same in that i had morning sickness and nausea both times. i feel like i am carrying the baby the same even though this time i'm having a boy -- i carry both really out and low -- which in this stage of pregnancy can be pretty uncomfortable especially after working all day. ways that it feels different -- cravings - terrible!! i am having way more cravings that i cannot control. with my daughter i had no intense cravings so it was a lot easier to keep myself in check and not go crazy, definitely way harder this time; also different is this baby moves a TON so it just feels weird because my daughter moved specific times of the say and soemtimes i really had to focus, where as this baby boy feels like hes on the move all the time! also this time around, not sure if it's because i have a toddler, but i am wayyyyyyyy MORE EXHAUSTED! i am literally tired all the time no matter what and that's the one thing right now i am having a hard time with -- just not feeling like i have energy to do anything but there is so much to do! ha!

Q: (kinda goes with previous question) did you feel sick or nauseous during yout first trimester? how did you manage to stay active?

   A. so seen from the first question, YES i definitely felt sick and super nauseous with this pregnancy from the time i was six weeks til about 18-19 weeks. because i have a toddler and because i felt awful the first trimester and into the second, i was definitely not that active in the first four months of my pregnancy. i am also really careful in the beginning of my pregnancy with working out because i went into preterm labor with my daughter and was having some issues early on with this pregnancy (all good now), so i definitely rested more those first 18 weeks.

Q: Do you workout while pregnant? (this was a popular question)

    A. read part of my answer from previous question -- now that i am 30 weeks, the answer is yes. i started getting back into a normal workout routine around 20 weeks when i started feeling better and the dr cleared me of any issues. with this pregnancy, and with my first, i have GDM (gestational diabetes) which really sucks when you're pregnant and having a ton of random cravings. i basically have to follow a diabetic diet and try to stay as active as possible. so yes i do workout.. before getting pregnant i did more intense workouts, i was a big fan of BBG which i was doing up until i got pregnant and i have to say i was in really good shape. however now i cannot do those types of workouts -- too much jumping and intense cardio was too much on me and my belly. so what i do for workouts are walking, lots of walking. i try to walk or do some type of cardio that i can do at home after my meals and then i usually add on some kind of strength training or yoga from Tone It Up. i love the Tone It Up app because they have their daily moves which is like 15 minutes to get through and i think that with walking everyday is a great workout for me. i also love that they have other workout videos that are under 20 minutes i can do at home -- makes it super easy!

Q: Fave maternity jeans and tops?

    A. i actually don't wear a lot of maternity clothes because i think it's kind of a waste of money to sepnd for just a few months. most of what i wear is normal clothing and i might go up one size which is ok because i will use it postpartum for a little while too. but i just like my normal clothes better so i kinda stick with that. however i try to get tops that are flowy and long that will look good without a baby bump too. i also love fitted dresses that accentuate the bump but are still flatterting, this ONE is my favorite and i think it's everyone's favorite! if you don't own one, pregnant or not, you need ONE asap! it's literally the best. i have three, just ordered another one and they come in twelve colors. its perfect!! i also use a BELLY BAND for my jeans and leave my jeans unzipped and unbuttoned. this is the best. i used it for my last pregnancy and have been using it for this one when i want to wear jeans or denim shorts. other than that i stick to my favorite piece of clothing - joggers! if it's not too hot you will most likely find me in joggers, i wear my normal size depending on the retailer, and i will just fold down the band below my baby bump and its perfect. i also love plain tees and henleys that have just a little bit of stretch. there are so many great options out there, there isn't really a huge need to buy maternity clothes unless you feel more comfortable. also dresses! flowy dresses, especially in the summer are so easy!!

Q: Being a nurse...if the pregnancy is a glass of red wine allowed?

    A. ahhhh this is a hard one. if you don't know this about me, i am a labor and delivery nurse by day. i have been for almost seven years.. and there are conflicting thoughts and research on this and i wish i had mroe time to research this for you, but here are my thoughts. if you're pregnancy is healthy and you are about full term or late preterm, like 34-35 weeks pregnant to full term 37 weeks+, i would say a glass of wine is ok. your baby is pretty much fully developed at this time and i don't think a glass of wine will hurt you or the baby. i definitely don't think you should have a glass of wine every night from the time your 35 weeks to delivering your baby, but one glass or half a glass here and there when your full term is most likely ok. again, i am not a doctor or an expert in the matter, so make sure any questions you have about this you take up with your doctor. :)

Q: Are you scared about how baby C is going to react to the new baby?

   A. i am a little bit scared because i don't know how she will react and i want her to adjust nicely but of course i can't control that and that's what i am nervous about, not having complete control over how she will react. baby c is young, when the baby arrives she will be just under two and even though she sees my belly and we talk about it, she still doesn't quite understand what it means. but baby c is also a very happy and sweet little girl, so after some time i'm sure she will adjust nicely to her new role as a bis sister.

Q: What are you doing to prepare your daughter to be a big sister?

    A. so we haven't done a whole lot to prepare her yet.. if you have any tips let me know. so far we got her a baby doll to play with and we talk about the baby, if the baby cries what to do, how to rock the baby, and that she's the baby's big sister. she likes playing with the baby doll, kinda, but like i said in the alst question she still doesn't completely understand. i also plan on getting her a Big Sister book and reading it to her a lot until the baby arrives. besides that were also teaching her some responsibility, like putting her toys away, patience is a big one, learning to wait her turn for something, things like that to prepare her for it not being all about her anymore. let me tell you -- this is hard! especailly for toddler.. so we'll see what happens.

Q: What's your favorite part about being pregnant?

    A. i love being pregnant -- even though it can be uncomfortable and exhausting -- i love knowing that i am growing and nourshing a little human in there.. that at this moment in time we are kind of like one person. i also absolutely love feeling baby kicks and movements it just automatically gives you a special connection no one else can feel and its amazing.

Q: Baby J. is teething. Any advice?

   A. teething!!! ahh this is another hard one. so we were pretty lucky with baby C, her teeth never seemed to bother her all that much until a couple months ago when her three molars came in and two other front teeth at the same time. she had maybe 1-2 really bad nights but some baby motrin and extran snuggles and she was ok and we all survived. so here's my advice if your baby is six months or older, try baby tylenol or motrin before bed if you know they're teething, i definitely think it helps with the pain and fevers from teething that might wake them up in the middle of the night. other than that, to me teething is one of those things like sleep regressions you kinda have to ride out a little bit. i am also a big fan of teether toys, i like to put them in the freezer because it feels good on the itchy gums, another trick a mom friend told me, is a frozen washcloth, the texture also feels good on the gums, and then there are natural pain reliever ointments you can rub on the gums that might help too!

Q: How are you feeling about having two babies close in age?

   A. i honestly don't know how i feel yet. we definitely planned to have the kids this close in age. i wanted them to be about 2 years apart because i want them growing up close. there are definitely days where i am excited -- i know it will be challenging but it will also be fun and nice to see them interact with each other and play with each other and be kind of in the same stage, once the baby isn't a newbornf anymore. but there are also days, like when baby c is whining for no reason or only wants to be held by me, that i think oh gosh how are we gonna do this with two littles ones. but you know what we can do it, one day at a time. it will definitely be challenging and i'm sure it will take some time to adjust but i'm ready for it!

Q: Are you done having kids after this one?

    A. i am thinking NO!!! i am not done. i already talk about my third baby and i haven't even had this baby yet. i definitely think i would love to have one more baby, even maybe two more, but we will see how i feel after the two. my hubby likes to tell me we are done after this one.. so he will need some convincing.. but i just don't think i am done yet. haha only time will tell

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a mom and is it what you expected it to be?

   A. just knowing that i have this huge impact on another person, that i am this little person's role model and i get to be the one person to support them, love them unconditionally, and teach them how to be good people in the world. there is something very rewarding about that. it's definitely hard and a lot days i wonder what the heck i'm doing but seeing them smile and seeing how happy they are when you read a book or hug them literally makes my heart melt. or when i come home and baby c runs to the door with a huge smile on her face -- no matter what i do or don't do she loves me and wants to be with me..haha sounds silly and may not always be like that, but for now its amazing. i love taking care of her and being that person for her. i am so excited to teach her new things and see her grow.. i love that about motherhood too -- seeing your babies develop and grow -- how different they become and how they evolve into these little people. it is so amazing. i feel like motherhood is kinda what i expected it be.. rewarding, happy, exhausting, hard, scary -- at this point nothing really surprises me that much because i feel like motherhood is hard i enver expected it to be easy -- the only thing i sometimes have a hard time with is sometimes not having control over things, like how long your baby will nap, no matter what you do, you think you can change it easily but somtimes you can't and that is something i didn't think would bother me and sometimes it does. i have to say i love being a mom and i am so lucky i am one. best 'job' in the world.

really hope you enjoyed these maternity shots and my little Q&A!

park play date with pocky

{ this post contains affiliate/referral links, if you make a purchase through the links i make a small commission at no extra cost to you. thank you for supporting sass & sun}

the week is flying by yet again...maybe it's because a lot of us had monday off! nothing like a shorter work week to make the days go by even faster, right?!! speaking of time speeding by, baby c is fourteen months today! WHAAAT? seriously i look at her and i'm like, "whoa, you are a little girl!" "where the heck did my itty bitty baby go???" ahh it is so crazy. she is doing so well, she still isn't walking and from what i hear, i should be grateful. haha its already hard enough chasing after a speed crawler, i cannot imagine a speed walker or a running toddler ha! so i'll take this for now. baby c loves to eat, play, read books, she absolutely loves to go outside. i always joke with my hubby that just for me she will end up being a tomboy since i am so girly. haha. she love playing in the grass and dirt and she is obsessed with dogs and birds at the moment. its just so much fun seeing our little person grow and seeing her little personality develop. she is the SWEETEST.

anywho.. since i just went straight for the topic of baby c, i want to share some fun photos from our little picnic playdate with my good friend, Jacie and her little man, Nixon. if you're a mama you know that playdates with littles are basically chasing the kiddos around and making sure they're not running to close to the street or putting dirt in their mouths so Jacie and I didn't get to catch up much. but it was so much fun to see the kids kinda interact with each other now that their older. little nixon can walk so he was walking all over the park and playing with toys, baby c was crawling around trying to put leaves in her mouth. haha! baby c loves other kids so she was super excited to spend time with her friend, Nix! and what's a playdate picnic without some yummy snacks. i brought some strawberries for all of us, and some little baby crackers for the kiddos, but i also brought some fun YUMMY GOODNESS mainly for Jacie and I, but the babies got their hands on some too --

P O C K Y !!!!

ok, i am so surprised at how many people have never heard of or tried POCKY! if you have never heard of them or tried them, you need to go get some NOW! POCKY is like this cruncy cripsy pretzel stick covere in creamy chocolate. they perfect snack for on-the-go and perfect sharing. they will literally make anyone happy -- they are so irresistably delcious!  i used to eat them all the time as a kid and still LOVE them. i can literally probably eat an entire pack by myself hehe! they are so good and i usually opt for the regular chocolate ones but there are other fun, yummy flavors like strawberry, cookies and cream, and matcha green tea! you can find POCKY on their webiste, asian supermarkets, world market, and even amazon carries pocky! of course i had to bring some of these to our picnic because they are so yummy and just so easy to eat and enjoy. definitely a TREAT for jacie and I and the babies LOVED them.

i don't know about you, but if you like spring picnics and summer beach days, don't forget to take along a few packs of POCKY with you! your friends will be so happy!!

so share happiness with POCKY

have you tried POCKY yet??? let me know! and if not, go get some and take it to your next gathering! i promise it will NOT dissapoint! there are also fun things you could use pocky for, like a cute dring stirrer, add marshmallows to them for a fun dessert!

have a beautiful day!!

{ get our mommy & me look }

anywho i've got a little -- maybe not so little -- mommy blog post for you mamas or soon-to-be mamas regarding BABY SLEEP. i have been thinking about this blog post for awhile..

1. sleep means a lot to me

2. babies need good sleep

3. mamas and dadas need good sleep

4. its the one topic with babies that always gets talked about

5. one of the more challenging areas to deal with in regarding babies

sooooo basically getting baby c on a really nice, good sleep schedule, night sleep and napping, are really important to me. i am not the kind of person who can function on a few hours of sleep per night and i can be really cranky and hard to deal with if i am overtired. it physically and mentally hurts me when i don't get enough good sleep.

for those of you that are new here and/or new to my instagram, you may not know that baby c was born prematurely, six weeks early and had to spend three weeks in the NICU. it was a very diffciult time, trying to enjoy your first baby, a newborn while going back and forth to the hospital for three weeks and all during the busy holiday season. anywho, because she had to stay in the NICU for a little while, and we could not spend 24 hours a day seven days a week there, the nurses and pediatricians had her on a nice eat and sleep schedule right away. she was eating every three hours, and then sleeping all the times in between feeds. by the time we took baby C home she was eating every 3-4 hours and still sleeping pretty much all day and most of the night. it was pretty nice, i'm not gonna lie. by the time baby C was about three months old, i decided to sleep train her. now before you mamas that don't believe in sleep training get your panties in a bunch, let me explain a little bit.

sleep training DOES NOT mean leaving your baby in her bassinet or crib to cry and cry it out until she falls asleep.

that is just one method of sleep training. sleep training basically means exactly what it says training your baby when it is time to sleep and that he/she should be sleeping most of the night. baby C actually co-slept in our bed in a co-sleeper for the first five months. i also never breastfed her throughtout the night in the bed. she was in her separate little sleeper and when she woke up to eat, i actually got up, sat up and fed her, burped her and then put her down. i just felt, for me i didn't want her getting into the habit of feeding in the middle of the night whenever she wanted and in my opinion, make it harder to get her used to sleeping on her own at night. as she got older, when the pediatrician said she should be able to sleep most of the night without feeds, i gradually dropped her feeds one by one, and if she fussed i would try alternaive methods of soothing -- like patting her bum or back gently, humming, or giving her her pacifier. i did this until i could push out her feeds by an hour, then a couple hours, then a few hours, until we reached the time i thought it was appropriate for her to wake for her morning feed. of course this happened over a few weeks. but baby C transitioned really nicely, we had no issues really. baby c was reall a champ at sleeping when she was younger. then at about 5.5 months we transitioned her into her crib because i was going back to work and i felt it was time to get her into her own crib in her own room. we weren't worried about her sleeping through the night, but the change in environment that she would find shokcing and probably scary. for this change, we did a little bit of the cry it out method and by the third night she was transitioned and she was sleeping 12-13 hours per night. OMG it was AHHHHHMAZING!!! haha

fast forward about 4-5 months, we had our first real sleep regression. baby c never had a four month sleep regression, but she definitely regressed around 8.5, 9 months and it lasted about a month until i got some tips from Lauren from SLEEP AND THE CITY. during this time we were also going through a time change, so it was very diffciult to get baby C back on a normal schedule, but Lauren's schedule really really helped us. Baby C's sleep seemed to improve and get back to normal...then right before she turned one, we had another sleep regression and it included fighting naps. like real bad. and if you're a mama, you know how much those naps mean to us. i mean, not only does it mean baby will be happier and more pleasant. but it also gave us free time to finally eat lunch, wash the dishes, do laundry, take a nap, do your hair, and the list goes on. baby C still takes two naps a day, so when she started taking no naps and waking up 1-2 times in the night..

i was literally going BONKERS!

i was a crazy person and my hubby was so over it haha! well, a couple weeks ago, Lauren from SLEEP AND THE CITY, announced she was coming out with her new infant sleep guide for 5-12 month old babies. and all i have to say is GAME CHANGER!!!!!!

Little background on Lauren -- she is a mama of two and was a mombie (zombie mom with no sleep) and saw a need for personalized sleep help so she created her brand SLEEP AND THE CITY. Lauren is  three-time certified sleep consultant in portland, oregon. she has newborn sleep guides, infant sleep guides, sleep guides for time changes, and she also does personalized one-on-one help!

Lauren's infant sleep guide is grrrreat. i mean, it is more than great. i was so lost at trying to figure out how to get baby c back on a normal sleeping schedule -- how to get her naps back on track and how to lessen the time she wakes up in the middle of the night. i felt like i had tried everything i could think of and nothing was working. so when Lauren sent me her sleep guide, i read the whole thing a couple times and told my husband, lets do this. first of all, her sleep guide is perfect because she gives you a lof of information on baby sleep, how their sleep cycles work, what to expect, the importance of nutrition, sleep basics, and she also gives sleep schedule examples. i mean, she really breaks it down so you understand what you're doing and make sure you can accomplish your sleep goals with your little one. plus, i love that she calls is "sleep shaping" and not sleep training.

i have been follwonig her schedule examples and her tips and tricks for the last week and half, almost two weeks and i have to say that baby C is now back to napping twice a day and waking up 0-1 time per night. can i get a HAAAALLELUJIAHHHHH!!!! Lauren's infant sleep guide really breaks everything down for you and really helps you understand how long babies at certain ages should be awake, she gives you different soothing techniques to try when baby wakes up, and she also stresses the importance of sleep routines and separate sleep areas. for us, baby c has had a sleep routine pretty much since she was a few months old, so we kept our routine in place. we had white noise and a baby shusher, but we never had a real sound machine. after reading drom lauren, how great they are, we decided to get a sound machine that now plays all night while baby C sleeps and during all her nap times. i also love the way lauren presents her "sleep shaping". it never feels forced or rushed or mean, her ways seem very gentle and allows you to go at your pace, do what makes you feel comfortable. one of our issues with nap time is that when i try to put her down, baby c wants to all of a sudden breastfeed for comfort, and for me i would be stuck in her room for up to thrity minutes nursing for comfort and then have a hard time putting her down in her crib. lauren tells you in her guide, it is ok to nurse if that is what your baby is doing now, but she says each time lessen the time you nurse or rock baby until finally she doesn't need it anymore to go to sleep. this has helped me tremendously because most days i find myself not nursing at all, and just rocking for a few minutes and then putting baby C down in her crib. of course, not every day is perfect. we still have some days where she will cry and not want to be put in her crib, but it only lasts a few minutes and then baby c usually goes to sleep. and her naps are usually an hour to an hour and a half, which is perfect for us for now. i literally cannot thank Lauren enough for the help and guidance she has provided.

sleep makes me and my baby sooooo HAPPY!

mom & baby update {7months}

OMG! it has been what? like three months or so since i've done a mommy post! i am so sorry i haven't been updating you on mom life and baby girl! buuuut if you follow me on instagram then you probably get a glimpse on how much baby C is growing! i really need time to slow down -- she is now 7 and half months! i know, crazy! i cannot believe how close we are to the BIG 1!!! and yes, my best friend and i are already planning her one year birthday bash! i won't reveal the theme just yet hehe! anyway, i am sitting in bed, enjoying my iced coffee, baby free at the moment so i though OMG i need to come on here and give an update on real life, mom life, baby life! gosh it is just so crazy how much babies learn and grow and change! baby C is defiitely not this little peanut that just lays around and sleeps all day haha! she enjoys sitting up and playing! she also really enjoys story time and her absolute favorite book is 'the pout pout fish'! we probably read this book at elast five times a day! baby C also looooves to grab everything and anything and put it into her mouth! she is finally eating real food -- well pureed food! her favorite right now are sweet potatoes! baby c also wants everything we eat! she finally has her two bottom teeth poking through and they are sharp ahah! she loves to bite on my fingers and she has bitten me a few times while breastfeeding -- NOT FUN! so painful haha.. i hope i can get her to stop doing that very soon! any tips on biting??? right now, she is definitely a mama's girl -- she started noticing when i leave the room and she DOES NOT like it! she sleeps about 12 hours all night so when i work i'm gone before she's awake so she doesn't know i've left her because she just doesn't see me until i get home.. but if i've been around and some one else tries to hold her or i leave she gets upset. sooooo i'm thinking there's a little bit of separation anxiety. i heard this is super common when babies are exclusively breastfed and are taken care of by the same person most of the time -- which is our case. i'm going to need to work on her being ok with other people.. i will also take any advice on that as well! overall it has been great -- still super exhausting at times and frustrating but for the most part i am still enjoying being her mama! its so fun watching her grow and seeing her little personality come out. she really is such a sweet and happy baby girl!

i also want to share some of the baby products we use pretty much every day and i guess i can say we can't live without them! so if you're a mama or know a new mama, mama-to-be these would be great gifts! and if there are some baby items you think we would love or you love please let me know!

have an amazing day!

staying organized with ToteSavvy

happy friday babes!! Wow this seemed like a crazy long week.. baby C and I had a busy week with two trips away from san diego -- one to LA and one to orange county -- makes for a very tiring week! So i'm definitely glad its friday and that today we're just hanging out and relaxing!

{ what i'm wearing }

top | jeans | wedges | sunnies | tote | tote organizer

anywho today i'm sharing one of my mom goals -- staying organized while still being stylish with ToteSavvy! One thing i've learned thus far being a new mom you have a lot of stuff and need a lot of stuff and that's why the diaper bag is super convenient and so functional. And while i love my diaper backpack, i started ONLY carrying the diaper bag -- which isn't too bad but i always kinda felt like this isn't that stylish or it kinda makes my outfit look weird lol. I kept wanting to use my LV never full tote because it's a classic and it goes with everything and fits a lot of stuff. I tried using it and it was just a mess. i mean you know what I'm talking about if you have this bag or any other kind of large tote with no inside pockets -- stuff is EVERYWHERE and you can never seem to find exactly what you're looking for, so you're that mom on the sidewalk with baby in tow digging through your purse -- insert eye roll emoji haha! Wellllll imagine my excitement when ToteSavvy sent me the PERFECT tote organizer that fits perfectly into my LV Neverfull tote and in the same color as the interior of my bag! This organizer is a GAME CHANGER! It has so many pockets, including an insulated pocket for baby bottles or your water bottle! This organizer literally fits everything i need for a full day out with baby C. You can literally make ANY bag a DIAPER bag!!! Say whattttt?! Ahhhhmazing, i know! It makes life so much easier and i feel really good when i all have to bring is my purse -- the organizer keeps everything together and with all the pockets it makes it super easy to find what i need right away -- no digging around! Being a mom can be so hectic and crazy -- schedules change all the time, I find that i am rarely ever on time to anything these days (again insert eyeroll emoji), which by the way, is a huge pet peeve of mine, but with a baby things change so quickly you just gotta learn to adapt. It is so nice to feel like something in my life is organized -- i mean, even if its just something as simple as my "diaper" bag/purse, i feel super accomplished and ready annnnd when i get to use my purse i feel like i look good too, no bulky diaper backpack! I am seriously OBSESSED with this organizer and even if you don't have a baby or kids, this would be perfect for any bag!

{ get MY look }

hope everyone has a lovely friday and beautiful weekend! baby c and i have a couple events this weekend but as always we will try and just relax! what do you have planned this weekend?

Xo, Steph

thank you to ToteSavvy for sponsoring this post.

three month update on mommy & baby

{ what i'm wearing }

top | jeans | sunnies | shoes

hellooooo and happy hump day! i know its been awhile since i've put up a post but omg having a new baby at home makes blogging kind of challenging... seriously i am sometimes in awe at how others do it all!! i have such a hard time some days even getting out of the house to run a quick errand, much less getting out to take blog photos! whoa.. lol i mean i know its my first baby and i'm still learning and figuring her out -- i thought i got her schedule down and knew all of her cues but what i've come to find out is that every week she changes and i'm learning to accept that i can't have everthing under control in just three months... unless any of you out there have secrets i don't know about please feel free to share! haha more on baby c update below.. but first, a little update on me and my post-baby bod issues..

the main reason i'm writing this post is because i am trying to embrace and learn to accept that after a baby your body changes! it just does.. no matter what in some way your body is just different! so after having baby c i was so excited to get back into my normal clothes and wear pieces that i could never pull off pregnant. wow i was kinda wrong -- yes, i am able to get back into a few of my pre-pregnancy jeans and dresses and what not, but i am still not back to my pre-pregnancy body. (i know, maybe i sound vain but i can't help it) after i had baby c i actually lost a good amount of the baby weight, but a few weeks ago i've gained pretty much most of the weight back (mostly my fault because i've been eating everything and anything..yikes!!).. i definitely still have a little belly and my hips are so much wider and my thighs -- whoa. (sorry major body shaming -- i need to stop that) i know maybe this sounds really bad and that this isn't so important but it does bother me. so i finally decided that

1. i'm embracing my new body

2. i am still going to work on getting back to my pre-pregnancy body (i've started doing at-home workouts and will hopefully be getting back into pilates and barre classes)

3. i am accepting that maybe i will never get back my previous pre-baby bod but i can definitely get back to feeling good about my bod.

so in these photos i'm totally showing off my curves -- i loooove these jeans -- they're super trendy right now and i just love distressed denim in general so i had to have them. after we took these photos and i took a look at them, i almost threw this outfit post away. i was super bummed because i love this outfit -- i mean, hello! blush pink bell sleeves and busted knee high-waisted jeans! so cute.. so after a few minutes i decided that i should show this look off because as a new mother i look damn good! and yes i am not perfect -- i have wider hips & thicker thighs -- but you know what, i just had a baby and i look beautiful!! i usually try to wear pieces that i hide my new bod, but why am i doing that? i honestly feel stupid for doing that -- so here it is! after looking at these photos again i feel proud and happy! oh and these marc fisher wedges ((that are pretty similar to these wedges everyone has, i have them too *eyeroll)) are under $50!!! so cute, comfy and perfect for spring and summer!

{ GET my LOOK }

alrighty babes, the best part of the post -- update on baby c -- baby c is such a snuggle bug and for the most part super sweet and cute! she now has what they call a "witching hour" or at least thats what i think it is because i can't figure out what else it could be -- but she is basically really fussy during the same time every day for the last few days, usually around 5:30pm which is bad because it's so close to her 7pm bedtime it makes it hard to put her down to sleep. she is also having a hard time going to sleep at night, which used to never be a problem... and she is back to waking up about every three hours in the middle of the night, when before she would sleep 5-6 hours through the night. i'm learning that with a new baby things change all the time, they change every week and i can't expect too much too soon. i'm having a really hard time not being able to control every situtation.. #momlife! anywho, she smiles soooo much more now its so fun. she loves being on the changing table and she's coo-ing so much more now. she still loooooves her wubbanubs and binkies. she is my sweet little baby and i never want her to grow haha. it seriosuly goes by so quickly. my hubby and i were looking at some of her photos from when she was born and when we brought her home from the hospital and i could not help but get teary-eyed thinking OMG all those times are gone now, she will never be that little.. but i have to remember there are still more fun memories to be made so its ok.. right?! baby c also has been getting out a lot lately with just mommy -- she took her first hour-long car ride with just mommy and she slept the whole way both ways! (i was super anxious) she's growing -- she's about eleven pounds now and 23.5 inches long! we love her sooo much! until next month...

have a beautiful hump day! wow, i cannot believe we're already half-way through another week!

Mustela & two month baby update

hey hey hey!! happy thursday! i know, yay its almost friday.. but for me all the days seem the same now that i'm at home with my sweet baby girl -- i know y'all are excited for the weekend though hehe! today, i'm sharing some amazing skin products that are perfect during pregnancy and post-baby! i got these amazing products while i was in my third trimester, but baby girl came early so i didn't get to use it much while pregnant, but you better believe that after my baby was born and i went home i started using these amazing MUSTELA products! i've heard of this brand before and i am so excited to be using them. all these creams and serums are non-greasy, not sticky and have a very nice light fragrance so its super easy to use everyday. i was so worried about getting stretch marks while pregnant, and luckily i did not get any but since my skin was stretched out to hold my baby and my bossoms (LOL) got MUCH larger since i am breastfeeding..and i am producing a lot of milk so i have to make sure that i protect my skin and these products are helping me have the best skin post-baby.

newborn photo shoot reveal

happy friday night babes! i'm going to keep this pretty short and sweet --  i know its been my trend lately -- but i have like ten minutes before my in-laws come over and the baby wakes up hehe! i just want to share my favorite photos from our newborn photo shoot! i love all of these -- just so sweet and i know i'll look back at these and just be so happy i did them. in case you're new to my blog, my baby girl came six weeks early so she stayed in the NICU for three weeks after i delivered so we didn't get to take our newborn photos within the first seven to ten days when the babies are really sleepy and a little easier to work with, but since she was a preemie it wasn't so bad when we took these photos. the only issues were she didn't like to be swaddled up to tightly, you know like they do for these photos -- bodies all swaddled into a little ball with just a foot hanging out or something.. she likes to be stretched out haha. she also has gas and acid reflux issues -- my poor baby -- so we had to get the photos quick before she started doing her weird grunting and fidgeting. baby girl is seven weeks old as of yesterday and we are still dealing with acid reflux, so she is taking baby zantac for that, crazy i know! and we also think she may have some constipation now. she never had an issue she pooped a lot, almost after every feeding, but now she seems to have some issues. other than that everything else seems to be going well -- she's gaining weight and is now a little bit over eight pounds. baby girl wakes up about every three hours to eat, which isn't bad at all. i am of course super exhausted but its so worth it! also, whoa they tell you it takes a lot just to get outta the house, and it sure does! i always think i'll be ready to go in like thirty minutes and it takes us an hour sometimes more. she'll poop as i'm putting her into the carseat, or she'll spit up all over her clothes. then i have to make sure the diaper bag is packed..then i have a bunch of otehr stuff on my mind and i get distracted.. anyway you get it... it takes ALOT! i'm sure i'll get better at it with time and experience. ohhhh and i still haven't been out of the house by myself, just me and her. i'm nervous to not be sitting in the back seat with her. we did put up a mirror so we can see her in the front, but still i have a little anxiety about it, and i;m so lucky my hubby is around most of the time to take us out. hopefully next we will go on an 'girls only' adventure to the mall or seomthins haha! that's my little update so far! i know, ooops wasn't so short and sweet like i thought -- i'm probably rambling anyway ENJOY these pics!

ps. any mamas out there with any advice on how to deal with acid reflux and constipation, leave them below please!! also, for when the time comes, any advice on how to get baby sleeping through the night -- or at least 5-6 hours in the middle of the night? and when can i realistically expect that?? thanks friends!

have a happy weekend!

freshly picked -- the first pair + GIVEAWAY!

happy TUESDAY SHOESDAY !!! and say hello to my new blog section -- 'mommy moments' ! here i will be sharing how #momlife is going, any funny and interesting things that goes on on our mommy + baby days and whatever other mommy moments i come up with. for my first post i am sharing baby charlotte's first pair of FRESHLY PICKED moccasins! from the first moment i saw freshly picked moccasins at nordstom years before i knew i was going to have a baby i was already so obsessed because they are just so cute, super soft and they come in so many adorable colors and patterns! so when FRESHLY PICKED approached me to try out their new line of crib-size moccasins, i was so excited! i mean my hubby and i used a neutral color of freshly picked moccasins for our pregnancy announcement (see photos below) but unfortunately these moccasins are way too big for out little baby girl. but i am so happy i was able to get three beautiful pairs of newborn freshly picked moccasins -- still a little big for my baby since she was born six weeks early but were still able to put them on her! we are so excited for her to have these moccasins! what's so great about these moccasins are they have really soft soles, which means they are roomier allowing her feet to grow unrestricted, and when she starts to stand and take her first steps, the soft soles of the moccasins will make is easier by allowing her to extend her toes and grip the floor like she's barefoot -- which is actually better for her to learn to walk -- more comfortable than hard-soled shoes while still offering her little toes protection. as they grow, soft-sole shoes can also help with balance and coordination. this is why we choose freshly picked moccasins for our baby girl -- she will definitely be growing up in freshly picked moccasins

my hubby and i thought these moccasins are perfect and we decided we would take our sweet baby girl home in the baby pink freshly picked moccasins -- these are her first pair of shoes ever! we decided to choose these moccasins for her first pair of shoes because we know that these moccasins will create a keepsake for us that we can pass down to her when she has children of her own. what's so amazing about leather is that the characteristic of leather is it is unique to the person wearing it. the more you wear something made from leather, the more it molds to your body and with leather shoes, over time you will see a foot imprint -- creating a beautiful keepsake that will last forever. when our baby girl grows up we will always have her first pair of moccasins to look at and reminisce on her early baby years and lookback at how little she was! it will be so great!
